On Wednesday the 29th of November 2023, Beaver Scouts from across the District came together at St Mary’s Church (Wyke) to celebrate the annual Christingle Service.

Christingle is a celebration that aims to bring families and communities together to spread a message of hope.

During the service, they all got to light their Christingles that they all prepared in the weeks leading up to the event. These Christingles are oranges wrapped in red tape, decorated with dried fruit or sweets, with a candle on top. Each part has a meaning, all adding up to the symbol of hope.

All the candles are lit to create a warm, magical glow symbolising the aim to bring hope to those who are living in darkness,

We’d like to thank Claire Maxwell and Richard Gill, for leading the service and playing the organ respectively. We’d also like to publicly thank St Mary’s Church for allowing us to hold our service there.
